Angioma Alliance supports the community of health professionals and researchers in many ways:
Neurology Resident's Award - Angioma Alliance offers cash awards to the best submissions from US Neurology Residents in response to case scenarios about the clinical management of patients with cerebral cavernous malformations. Awards range from $100-$1000.
CCM DNA & Tissue Bank - Angioma Alliance has created its own CCM bio-repository complete with medical and imaging records to help our researchers find better treatments and possible cures for this illness. Tissue is donated from cavernous angiomas that are removed surgically. DNA is extracted from blood donations, and in many cases this DNA is sequenced for mutations in CCM1, CCM2, and CCM3. Because this bank is held by Angioma Alliance, many researchers at many labs are able to use the donations of our members.
CCM Scientific Workshop - We sponsor an annual Pathobiology of Cerebral Cavernous Malformations Scientific Workshop that brings together many of the key players in the CCM research field to discuss their latest research in an open, friendly, and relatively informal atmosphere. This workshop is not open to the public.
Patient Registry - We have developed a web-based recruitment tool for clinical and research studies related to CCM. Additionally, we have made available a list of laboratories that are seeking participants in ongoing research. If you would like your laboratory added to the list or to use to registry to recruit research participants, please contact us at
